Frankly Scarlett, you look adorable!

While going through the stash of my grandmother's trimming I found this great green velvet ribbon, which is now a beautiful headband. Scarlett O'Hara would want this to go with that dress of hers for sure!

T-shirt Re-do

I don't know about you, but I'm a bit of a craft stasher. I stash away things that I think I could possibly re-use or remake somehow. One of the piles that keep getting larger is my t-shirt stash.
One's we don't wear, ones that don't fit anymore ( sadly) and ones that I like the color but not the shape. You get the point.
Well this week I decided to use some. I saw this great scarf from Germany and thought " I need to make that!" Then I tried to make a little different style along the same idea. I love them! They are so light and fun to wear.

Great color but was a horrible shape. Super soft cotton too.

This is the Germany knockoff. Made with this really great t-shirt cotton that I bought years ago at the Los Angeles Fashion Institute thrift store. If you live in LA and haven't gone, you should. You can great some great fabric for really cheap sometimes.

Im loving any braided right now too. Don't ask me why. Well see what else comes up braided.

Tie one on

I just added these little tie onsie's to the shop. They are made with vintage men's tie's and cotton Gerber short sleeve onsies.

I know your saying , " But, Ive seen this before!"

But what makes these different and special is that not only do they have authentic recycled Tie's but only the top is appliqued leaving the bottom of the tie loose and cool!

Birds & Babies

There's just something about birds. I love them, especially as part of baby motifs. A couple of years ago, I made some great bird/branch mobiles using a pattern from spool sewing for some friends that were expecting their first little bundle's of joy. They turned out really well and everyone loved them. Making the mobile balance though was a "pain in the kiester"!
This year I decided to do my own spin on it . I started making this one for a friend to take to a baby shower, but decided half way through that I loved it so much I needed to give it to my sister instead. She's expecting her first girl! Don't worry about my friend though. I didn't leave her hangin. I sent her with some great red sweater booties.
I wrapped and wrapped and wrapped with yarn and then used the "bowdabra" my mom gave me for christmas for the bows ( If you dont know what a "bowdabra" is, look it up. It's pretty hillarious. And of course, useful mom, I love it.)
I'm sending it to my sister as a surprise!! Don't worry though about her finding out by reading this blog. I'm the only person who actually reads this thing, unless I post a link on facebook! (Prove me wrong, and leave a comment and the end of this post and Ill send you a surprise!)

Despicable Me

My son is addicted to Movies!! He loves to watch them and act them out, and he is always the bad guy. So, it will come as no surprise that he loves the movie Despicable Me, since both the main characters are super villains!

The whole 2 weeks of Christmas break both kids and myself got the flu and had quite a few movie days. Since then I have lost track of how many times I have watched this movie.

So, today when Ben wanted to watch it once again I decided he needed to have his own minion. I used fabric scraps I had on hand and by the end of the movie he had a prop to use for the next viewing.
